Privacy and data

A plain-English account of what happens to your information when you use Life Cashflow.

  • Your plan stays in your browser

It is worked out on your device. It is not sent to or stored on our servers.

  • You keep it as a file

Save your plan to a file on your own device. We never receive it.

  • Usage statistics only if you agree

Analytics is off until you accept it. If you do, Google Analytics counts visits and shows which pages are used. Your plan figures are not sent to it.

  • The AI connection is optional

Figures reach our server only when an assistant is asked to check or run a plan. Nothing is stored or logged.

Your plan stays on your device

The figures you enter are held in your browser and every calculation runs there. They are not uploaded to a server we operate, and we cannot see them. If you clear your browser data or close the tab without saving a file, the plan may be lost, and we cannot recover it for you because we never had it.

Saving to a file

A saved plan is a plain-text file written to the place you choose on your own device. It holds every figure you entered, along with any names you typed for people and accounts, so treat it as you would any other financial document. If you share the file with someone, for example an adviser or an AI assistant, that is your choice, and what they do with it is covered by their own privacy notice.

Usage statistics

We use Google Analytics, loaded through Google's tag, to measure how many people visit and which pages they use. It is off by default. The first time you visit, a notice asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Until you choose Accept analytics, Google's tag is not loaded and the site sends nothing to Google for analytics.

If you accept, the tag loads on every page of this site. It is set up in its standard way: it records page views and uses cookies to tell separate visits apart. Google receives the technical information any browser sends with a request, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the page you view and the page you came from. It works out an approximate location from that. We see aggregated reports. We do not send your plan figures, names or anything you type into the planner to Google Analytics.

Google handles that data under its own privacy policy (opens in a new tab). You can change your mind at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer of every page, or with the button below. If you choose Reject after accepting, analytics stops straight away and we remove the Google Analytics cookies from this site where your browser allows. The planner works the same whichever you choose. Google also offers an opt-out browser add-on (opens in a new tab).

You have not chosen yet, so analytics is off.

Cookies

The only cookies on this site are the ones Google Analytics sets, and it sets them only if you accept analytics. Their names usually begin with "_ga" and they hold a random identifier, not your name or email address. We do not set cookies of our own for advertising or tracking, we do not show adverts, and we do not sell personal data.

We also keep your analytics choice in your browser's local storage, under the name "lifecashflow.analytics-consent". It is not a cookie, it stays on your device and it is not sent to us or to anyone else. It lets the site remember your choice. If you clear your site data, or your browser blocks storage, the notice appears again on your next visit and analytics stays off until you accept.

Fonts

The typefaces on this site (Instrument Sans and Newsreader) are loaded from Google Fonts. Your browser requests them from Google's servers, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads. Google's privacy policy applies to that.

The optional connection for AI assistants

Life Cashflow offers a connection for AI assistants that support the Model Context Protocol (MCP). You do not need it to use the planner. It does two things:

  • It explains the plan file format to the assistant, which involves no personal figures.
  • It builds a plan file for you to import. The assistant sends figures to our server only when it is asked to check or run a plan.

When figures are sent, the server uses them to return a result and keeps nothing. It holds no memory between requests, and we do not store or log the figures. What you tell an AI assistant, and what the assistant provider does with it, is covered by that provider's terms and privacy notice, not ours. A plain-text summary for AI tools is at /llms.txt.

Hosting and technical records

As with any website, the company that hosts our pages may keep standard technical records of each request, such as the time, the address requested and the IP address. We do not use those records to build profiles of visitors.

If you email us

If you write to support@lifecashflow.co.uk, we use your email address and your message to reply, and keep them for as long as we need to deal with what you have asked.

Your rights

Because we hold no plan data and do not identify visitors, there is usually very little for us to find. You still have rights under UK data protection law, including to ask what personal data an organisation holds about you, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and to object to how it is used. For data held by Google, you would need to contact Google. If you are unhappy with how your information has been handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (opens in a new tab).
